Ben is responsible for the Private Credit and Inflation Linked Debt teams in the Private Markets Group (PMG). He oversees debt origination, underwriting and strategy across these teams. In addition, he oversees PMG’s Special Situation investments across funds, co-investments and directs. Ben’s transaction experience spans an opportunity set across the capital structure and includes the setting up of L1 Renewables.
Prior to joining PMG, Ben was Head of UK and European Equities at USS managing equity portfolios. Ben began his career as an analyst at HSBC specialising in utilities. He holds a BA in Business and Economics from the University of Bristol.
Damian joined USS in 2015 as Head of Asset Management and Operations for the Private Markets Group (PMG). He is responsible for the oversight of asset management activity as well as all non-investment functions across PMG.
Prior to joining USS, Damian spent 15 years with Lehman Brothers and its asset management offshoot, Neuberger Berman, where he held various roles including Chief Operating Officer (EMEA) and Head of Global Investment Funds. Damian spent four years in Tokyo where he helped develop Lehman Brothers’ operations at a time of unprecedented growth for the firm. He began his career as an analyst at Towers Perrin (now Willis Towers Watson).
Damian has extensive experience across fund administration, product development and operations and previously served as a non-executive director of NBIF PLC and NBIF II PLC. Damian currently serves as a non-executive director of a number of renewable energy and commercial property companies.
Damian received a BSc. (Econ) in Economics from Queen Mary University of London.
Emma joined USS in 2015 as Senior Associate within Asset Management and Operations for the Private Markets Group (PMG). Emma works across the credit and infrastructure asset management as well as all non-investment functions across PMG.
Prior to joining USS, Emma worked at BP Investment Management as a Private Equity Controller, Royal Mail as a property development analyst and at PriceWaterhouse Coopers within Insurance and Investment Management.
Emma is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and received a BEng in Chemical Engineering from Sheffield University.
